(THE GRINDER)

1. Thanks for your time. Tell us about your band and what you do for your band.
Gergo: Hi there. My name is Gergo Hajer, I'm one of the founder member of Omega Diatribe. I play the guitar and writing songs for the band, I also mixed some of our records as well.

2. When did you decide you wanted to be in a band?
Gergo: I think it was around in 2001 when I started to get really deep into metal bands. I joined my first band when I'm at the age of 13.

3. What is different about being a musician than you imagined?
Gergo: Rock & Roll is not a dance!

4. What gear do you use and why?
Gergo: I'm using ESP Guitars on stage and in the studio as well, Mesa Boogie stack on live shows and Kemper Profiler Rack in studio and a bunch of effect pedals on stage. I found "my sound" in ESP for a really long time, I'm 100% loyal for the brand and I don't think I will ever use any other guitar brands. To be a tiny part of the ESP Family means the world for me!

5. What music do you listen to that would surprise people?
Gergo: Beside of metal music, I'm a big fan of (old) drum & bass classics and psychedelic music. These genres inspires our music as well, no doubt.

6. How do we find your music and merch to buy?
Gergo: I still buying CDs and Vinyls, I'm kind of a collector guy. So all of my favourite releases are on my shelf. I have my favourite record store here in Budapest, but I also order records from the internet as well.
About merch, I mainly buy it at concerts or sometimes I order some cool shirts from eBay.

7. How did you get a record deal? Or do you want a record deal or are you DIY?
Gergo: Back in the day we were a really hardworker DIY band, but with our latest record we signed to a serious label called Metal Scrap Records. They help us to reach our goals.
Before we released 'Trinity' we sent out the record for a bunch of record company, and Metal Scrap Records answers was the right one what we're searching for.

8. What bands do people compare your music to?
Gergo: Meshuggah, Korn, Slipknot, Sepultura, Machine Head...and so on.

9. Are you pro Spotify / streaming services ? Or do you think it hurts sales?
Gergo: Hm, I don't really care about Spotify. It's a cool service to spread our music to the young generation nowdays. Nevertheless, I don't use it... Just to check out our statistics.

10. What’s the ultimate goal for the band?
Gergo: Our main goal is to build our band as a brand and tour as much as we can around the world. I'm sure it's a pretty common answer, but this is the pure truth.

11. Will we see you tour?
Gergo: Definetly! 2018 was a really busy year for us and I hope 2019 will be busier. We did our first headliner Europe tour this year which was pretty awesome! We already have 20+ dates for 2019. We gonna play a few shows in countrys like we've never played before. So excited!

12. Who would you love to tour with?
Gergo: To be realistic... Monuments, Vola, Decapitated, Thy Art is Murder. To be irrealistic... Slipknot, Tool, Meshuggah. Hehehe

13. What is your favorite song of yours and why?
Gergo: Ummmm, I can't pick only one, sorry. So many of our songs have really deep meanings for me.

14. Why should people take the time to listen to your band over the thousands of other bands?
Gergo: I think when the listener feels our vibe through the record it means we put some magic into the disc. If anyone looking for really tight, punchy music with full of energy, do not hesitate to drop in some of our record.
We're dying on each record...

15. What are your favorite music websites labels podcast etc?
Gergo: I'm not really into this, sorry. I more prefer magazines.

16. Is imagery important to you? Do you judge albums by the cover?
Gergo: I never judge by covers. Just think about it... Pantera's Reinventing The Steel cover is one of the most terrible cover I ever see, and It's one of my favourite record. From this apropo, I learned that It's strictly not allowed to judge by the cover.

17. If you could choose a cover song your band mates would hate what would it be?
Gergo: Omega - Gyöngyhajú lány (it's a classic hungarian hit)

18. Is the record or live show more important?
Gergo: I think both of them are important. But nowdays, every band's record sounds super cool and heavy, and when I saw them on stage, it's nothing but a piece of crap. I think the most important is to release a killer produced record, and bring it to the stage in the same quality! That's what I respect!

19. Name 3 people dead or alive you would want to play your music for.
Gergo: Dimebag Darrel, Paul Gray, Corey Taylor

20. Lemmy Ozzy Dio and Rob Halford in a cage match who wins?
Gergo: Lemmy, no doubt!
